Delivering on its reputation as an experienced and dedicated general contractor, Telamon successfully completed construction projects at two Northwest Ohio senior living facilities. Serving as the general contractor, Telamon led the construction renovations at Otterbein Senior Life neighborhoods in Monclova and Perrysburg. Work included additions and renovations to five buildings at both locations.<\/p>\n
Both Otterbein neighborhoods include groups of \u201csmall houses\u201d where seniors reside. Telamon was charged with building on to the five houses at each location, which included adding rooms for additional capacity. Telamon landed the contract after having successfully completed a similar construction project for Otterbein in Marblehead.<\/p>\n
Like many projects over the past two years, construction at Otterbein was delayed a year due to COVID. Originally scheduled for early 2020, work did not begin in Monclova until April 2021, with the Perrysburg project starting in May. That delay saw material prices skyrocket, which forced Telamon to renegotiate pricing with vendors in order to keep costs down. Equally challenging with COVID was managing construction at the houses with residents still onsite.<\/p>\n
\u201cCOVID kept the residents inside, so we had to build temporary interior walls and partitions to maintain safe distances,\u201d said Telamon President Steve Durbin. He added that workers needed to be conscientious about construction hours with the residents \u2013 not starting too early or going too late.<\/p>\n
In the end, Durbin said both Otterbein projects were completed on budget and on time.
