Telamon Construction served as the general contractor for the $1.7 million OCIC Workforce Training Facility Renovation. This phased, interior renovation transformed the existing facility into a modern, multi-disciplinary training environment designed to prepare individuals for careers in skilled trades, healthcare, hospitality, and other in-demand fields.
The project scope included a comprehensive reconfiguration and modernization of interior spaces. A former gymnasium was converted into dedicated welding and electrical training labs, while existing classrooms were fully updated. Two classrooms were combined to create a specialized hospitality training area.
Exterior improvements further enhanced the facility’s performance and appearance, including new window installation, brickwork repairs, canopy reconstruction, and updated gutters and downspouts. Through extensive self-performed work, Telamon maintained strong control over quality, coordination, and schedule.
One of the defining challenges of the project was managing a fast-paced schedule alongside evolving design documentation and a multi-stakeholder decision-making process. Telamon implemented a phased construction approach that prioritized continuous student access, advancing work in ready areas through consistent communication and collaboration.
Despite a tight budget and accelerated timeline, the project was delivered on time and to the client’s satisfaction. The completed facility now serves as a vital community asset, equipping individuals with the skills needed to enter and succeed in the workforce while reinforcing Telamon’s reputation for adaptability and dependable project delivery.
